Ingredients:


2 cups full-fat milk powder

1 cup condensed milk

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)

1/4 cup chopped nuts (such as almonds, pistachios, or cashews)

1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder

A pinch of saffron strands (optional)

Silver leaf (varak) for garnishing (optional)

Instructions:


Heat a non-stick pan or a heavy-bottomed pan on medium heat and add the ghee to it. Allow the ghee to melt.


Add the milk to the pan and let it warm up. Once the milk is warm, add the condensed milk and mix well.


Gradually add the milk powder while stirring continuously. Make sure there are no lumps in the mixture.


Keep stirring the mixture on medium heat until it thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan. This process can take around 10-15 minutes. Add the cardamom powder and saffron strands while stirring.


Once the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan, turn off the heat. Allow it to cool for a few minutes.


Grease a plate or a square baking dish with ghee.


Transfer the mixture to the greased plate and spread it evenly. You can use a spatula or the back of a greased spoon to smooth the surface.


Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top of the mixture and press them gently so that they stick.


Let the barfi cool down completely at room temperature. You can also refrigerate it for faster cooling.


Once the barfi has cooled and set, cut it into square or diamond-shaped pieces. You can use a sharp knife or a cookie cutter.


If desired, you can garnish the barfi with silver leaf (varak) for a traditional touch.


Your sweet barfi is now ready to be enjoyed! Store it in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator. It should stay fresh for several days
